Extra Curriculum

Developing well-rounded students through diverse extracurricular activities that complement academic excellence

The Importance of Extra Curricular Activities

Extra curricular activities play a vital role in the academic development of students at Imperial College. We believe in nurturing not only academic excellence but also the holistic development of our students through diverse activities that foster leadership, creativity, teamwork, and cultural awareness.

Intellectual Growth

Activities like debates, quizzes, and Model UN stimulate critical thinking and problem-solving skills beyond classroom learning.

"Teaching is not confined to the books only, but also to extra-curricular activities."

Competitive Excellence

Our students regularly participate and excel in regional and national competitions, bringing honour to the college.

We participate in competitions organised by governmental and non-governmental organisations like the Rotary Club, the MSPCA, the British Council and others.

Holistic Development

From sports to cultural activities, we ensure students develop physically, emotionally, and socially.

Extra-curricular activities are not restricted only to the literary field but also to sports. In various sports competitions, Imperial College has displayed a good performance.

Academic & Literary Activities

Drama & Elocution

Every year the school organises inter-class literary competitions including drama and elocution contests. These activities help students overcome stage fear and improve communication skills while offering certificates of participation to participants and prizes to winners.

Debates & Discussions

Debate competitions are organised at school level, enabling students to manifest their hidden intellect and bring their potential to the surface. This has a positive effect on other students at school.

Essay & Project Writing

Students participate in essay writing and project writing competitions, developing research skills and creative expression. At regional and national level, Imperial College has been regularly participating in different competitions with frequent victories.

Quiz & Brain Trust

Quiz competitions test students' knowledge across diverse subjects and encourage quick thinking. Our students are given opportunities to visit exhibitions and forums to broaden their horizons.

Inter-Class & External Competitions

Inter-Class Competitions

Regular inter-class competitions in various disciplines create healthy competition and camaraderie among students. These events help identify talented students who can represent the college at higher levels.

Regional & National Level

Side by side with inter-class competitions, students are motivated to participate in similar competitions at regional and national levels. As a result, Imperial College always has its participants at most of the competitions organised by various organisations.

Our students have turned out to be victorious in many competitions and are given opportunities to visit exhibitions and forums.

Model United Nations (MUN)

The MUN provides students to acquire experience of the functioning of the United Nations. It not only aims at making students acquire practical experience with decision-making but also helps in their training as diplomats and future leaders.
1993

Pilot Implementation

This project was implemented in 1993 on a pilot basis. Since then, Imperial College has contributed by sending young participants to act as delegates and to represent a particular country.

Present

Current MUN Activities

Our young delegates merge with other delegates where they are going to think on different issues assigned to them and work towards writing resolutions to find solutions for particular problems. MUN helps the youngsters in their capacity building and leadership skills necessary for survival.

Our students become more mature and tolerant while preparing for the Model United Nations project. MUN is a project where the best participants are rewarded.

Diplomacy Skills

Students learn negotiation, public speaking, and conflict resolution skills through simulated UN sessions.

Leadership Development

MUN helps in capacity building and developing leadership skills necessary for future success.

Recognition

The best participants in MUN conferences are recognised and rewarded for their outstanding performance.

French Competitions

Conference on Francophonie

Organised by UOM and L'AMEF, students attended a meeting with the Professor of the Canadian University. A clear explanation was given concerning the French society of Canada, enhancing students' understanding of Francophone cultures.

Drama & Music Clubs

Drama and music clubs have been set up at Imperial College since 1998. These have enabled students to show their aptitudes and abilities in performing arts across multiple languages and cultural traditions.
